Laura McDermott has been Joint Artistic Director of Fierce with Harun Morrison since Autumn 2009. Previously Laura worked as a creative producer at BAC (Battersea Arts Centre) and Greenwich + Docklands International Festivals. Laura has extensive experience of producing work in found, unusual, or outdoor spaces. Laura was the lead producer for the Punchdrunk and BAC Production, The Masque of the Red Death, a site-responsive work staged across all 71 rooms of BAC’s premises (a former Victorian town hall), listed by Lyn Gardner as one of nine ‘productions that transformed theatre’ in The Guardian in April 2009.
Laura has also worked as a creative programmer and project manager at music festivals, including Glastonbury and the Lake of Stars festival in Malawi.
Laura enjoys cycling fast, traveling slowly by train, collecting unique or extreme experiences, wide circumference dancing, noisy music, eccentricity, laughter and ideas
Harun Morrison has been Joint Artistic Director of Fierce Festival with Laura McDermott since Autumn 2009. Harun was formerly a producer part-time at Battersea Arts Centre, London and has worked as a freelance producer for the Royal Opera House. He has co-led various participatory projects and workshops at organizations including Tate Modern, INIVA, South London Gallery, Chisenhale Gallery and LIFT. More recently Harun has given seminars, workshops and talks at various HE institutions including Central St. Martins, Goldsmiths and Royal College of Art. Harun is also on the board of Arnolfini and Battersea Arts Centre. Harun’s areas of interest include live art, contemporary curatorial practice and cultural theory, judo, world cinema, grass-roots activism, public memorials/collective memory and communal surfer-generated internet culture. Since 2005 Harun has collaborated with Helen Walker, as part of the mutil-disciplinary practice THEY ARE HERE
